A recap on SDGs 1-9

Goals 1-9 – What have we learnt?

If the events of the last year have taught us anything, it’s that nothing can ever be taken for granted. We watched as our entire world was stricken by a pandemic. We learnt what it is to lose our freedom. We saw our health services struggle to provide care for the sick. We lost loved ones.

Perhaps these events have helped us to see what it is to suffer. Perhaps they have given us a better understanding of the struggles faced by people all over the world now that we have experienced some of these struggles first-hand.

The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are now more relevant than ever. Poverty and hunger still exist. Achieving good health and wellbeing is going to take longer than expected. Education for all and gender equality are still a distant aim. Clean water, sanitation, efficient and affordable energy are beyond the reach of many. Decent work is still a dream and industry, innovation and infrastructure are far off in the future.
