The First Human to Eat in Space

American John Glenn was the first astronaut to eat in space (a tube of apple sauce) in 1962, but the menu was very limited and most of the food came in tubes in those days.  Nowadays, a lot of work goes into preparing menus so astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) can enjoy the most elaborate dishes including steak, chocolate cake and tortillas.  Vacuum-sealed pizzas from Pizza Hut have been consumed in space and, in 2008, NASA astronaut Sandra Magnus became the first person to actually cook a space meal. She made a dish of grilled tuna with a lemon, garlic and ginger marinade using the station’s food warmer. Yum!
